Yellow Spotted Tree Toad Pedostibes hosii |
This is the only arboreal toad species found in Malaysia. Known as the yellow spotted tree toad, this stout frog is much sought after in the overseas pet trade. Females are highly variable in colour, ranging from brown to lime green and mahogany to dark grey with random yellow spots across the back, sides and limbs.
Males are smaller and drab brown in colour. The belly is greyish white. This species has a preference for lowland to mid-level primary rainforest habitat. While it has been reported to be found as high as 6 m above the ground, it can sometimes be found congregating along streams on low branches. In Southeast Asia, this species occurs in Peninsular Malaysia, Southern Thailand, Sumatra, Brunei and Borneo.
