Snakes ~ Cat Snakes ~ White-Spotted Cat Snake

The white-spotted cat snake is common throughout Peninsular Malaysia. It also occurs in other parts of Southeast Asia, namely Singapore, Thailand, Borneo and Indonesia. They are two phases; the brown phase which is smaller and slender with a light brown body that has undefined orange bands and whitish spots along the ventrolateral area; and the green phase which is larger and more robust with green colouration and thin dark bands across the body that has cream and pinkish dots along the ventrolateral region.

In the wild, they prey mostly on geckos, frogs and other snakes. The white-spotted cat snake is an aggressive species but has one of the weaker venoms among the Boiga family. This species is encountered often on the ground during the night, desptie being an arboreal species.
