The white-bellied rat snake is a long but slender snake known from lowland to hilly rainforest. It is widespread across Southeast Asia in Singapore, Thailand, Borneo and Indonesia. A diurnal species, this rat snake is an adept climber, spending its nights resting curled up on tree branches up to 5m off the ground. It feeds primarily on lizards, especially agamids, but frogs are known prey as well. This generally shy snake has an olive to greyish brown body, becoming more reddish brown towards the tail. A dark ventrolateral stripe occurs along the lower section while the ventrals are cream. Juveniles are more vibrantly coloured, with a bluish or greenish sheen.
