Malaysia Tree Frogs

Malaysian Rhacophorus Species

Tree frogs are a wide genus of frogs belonging to the Rhacophoridae family. Not all are arboreal and green, but the wide perception of tree frogs is as such. The larger arboreal species from Peninsular Malaysia are covered here, but the smaller Theloderma species of frogs are placed in their own section. Tree frogs spend much of their time up among the trees, but can be spotted on the ground during heavy rains and breeding seasons. Flying frogs is a term used to describe the large species of tree frogs (especially the Wallace's flying frog or Rhacophorus nigropalmatus) that have enlarged webbings and skin flaps on the arms and legs, providing limited gliding ability.
