Tree Frogs
Southeast Asia |
Tree frogs are a wide genus of amphibians under the Rhacophoridae family, but the most well-known members are the flying frogs, which are able to glide through the air. The extensive webbing on the limbs of such species enable them to ride on air currents, but only when leaping off sufficently high trees and for short distances. Other tree frog species may exhibit less spectacular behaviour, but are no less fascinating in their appearance and ecology. Most tree frogs are foam nest breeders while some lay their eggs in jelly sacs. Occuring widely across Southeast Asia, some species are endemic while others are widespread.
