The Tokay gecko is one of the largest gecko species in the world. The name 'Tokay' comes from an onomatopoetic description of its loud call. In Peninsular Malaysia, this gecko species is found only among the islands that lie off Peninsular Malaysia's coastline, such as Langkawi and Tioman.

Elsewhere in Southeast Asia, it is native to much of Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and the Philippines. in Its colour is usually bluish brown with orange spots. Like the Giant Forest Gecko, the Tokay is fairly robust and large in size along with a fiesty temperament.
