Striped Bronzeback

Dendrelaphis caudolineatus

The striped bronzeback resembles Dendrelaphis pictus at first glance but is differentiated by the red and black lateral lines from the lower neck till the tail. The colours are more pronounced in juveniles with a reddish head that gradually fades to a pale brown. The ventrals are smooth and white with a keeled pattern. This aggressive species occupies lowland and mid-level rainforests. Striped bronzebacks feed on lizards and frogs in the wild but adapt well to captivity. In other parts of Southeast Asia, this species is also native to Singapore, Thailand, Borneo and Indonesia.
