Spotted Stream Frog

Rana signata

The spotted stream frog is found in lowland to upper-level rainforest, often along streams perched on roots and rocks. There are two forms; the lowland form has a dark top with yellow spots on the dorsum. A bright orange dorsolateral stripe runs from the snout all the way to the back. The sides are peppered with small yellowish patches. The limbs are greyish white with orange bars. The highland form is more drab in colouration with numerous spots on the dorsum. Their call is a quick succession of 'cricks'. In Southeast Asia, this species occurs in Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo and the Philippines.
