Spotted Litter Frog

Leptobrachium hendricksoni

The spotted litter frog inhabits the floor of lowland rainforest. The body is stout but the legs are rather long and thin in comparison. Its distinguishing feature are the large bug-like eyes with bright orange or red irises. The top of the body and flanks are usually greyish brown while the belly is bluish white. Small dark spots cover the flanks and underside, sometimes running along the back. When handled, the spotted litter frog will crouch into a prone position with the legs held tight along the body. To move, it crawls in a slow motion rather than hop. In Southeast Asia, this frog is native to Malaysia, Singapore, Borneo, Indonesia and Thailand.
