Spiny Mossy Frog

Theloderma horridum

The spiny mossy frog is a small species with a similiar patterning to Theloderma leprosum, though it is much less stout with a sharper snout. This frog has a very warty complexion, the back filled with numerous rough tubercles that resemble spines. It can be found in lowland to mid-level rainforest. There is usually a dark patch mid-way across the back while the irises are yellowish. Each toe is reddish orange while the belly is dark black with wavy white blotches. It can vary its colour betweeen dark to a yellowish brown tone. In Southeast Asia, this mossy frog occurs in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Sumatra, but it is not considered common.
