The Schulz's reed snake is typically dark brown in colour, with yellow undertones and irridiscent scales. The ventrals and labials are a bright yellow while the cheeks and the neck have a short row of faded yellowish streaks at an inclined angle. In the wild, it is believed to feed on earth worms and fossorial insects.
