Saffron Bellied Frog

Chaperina fusca

The saffron-bellied frog is a tiny but pretty arboreal species that breeds in tree holes, but also artificial water containers left in the forest. The back and flanks are bluish with small white tubercles and dark spots; the limbs are brownish with dark bars. The belly is yellowish brown with a messy vermiculated pattern. This species can be found in lowland to mid-level rainforest on the forest floor, perched on low vegetation. Their call is somewhat a mixture between a growl and a chirp. In Southeast Asia, this frog has been recorded from Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo and the Philippines.
