Rusty Barred Kukri Snake

The rusty barred kukri snake is a rare species that occurs in Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore and Sumatra in Southeast Asia. This small and slender kukri snake has a purplish brown body with reddish orange chevron-like bands across the body. The ventrals are orange while the head is light-coloured with a faint dark stripe running upwards from the base of the jaw through the eye. The rusty barred kukri snake has a shy and relatively docile temperament. Little is known about the ecology of this kukri snake, but a specimen in captivity fed on egg yolk. In Peninsular Malaysia, this kukri snake occurs from the southern tip all the way up to the Cameron Highlands.
