The River Toad is Peninsular Malaysia's largest toad species. The head is especially broad while the body is lined with numerous warts and ridges, giving it a blocky apperance. They base colour is usually a dark yellowish green but they can be greyish to orange brown. Despite their size, they are quite docile and prefer to blend in the background rather than hop away in the presence of danger. They are found in primary and secondary lowland to highland rainforest, often perched on rocks, banks and logs along streams and rivers. In Southeast Asia, this species occurs in Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Java, Borneo and Thailand.
