The reticulated python is the longest snake species in the world, and second largest. This common snake occurs in lowland rainforest, secondary jungles and disturbed habitats, including urban areas. The reticulated python is olive brown in colour with large oval markings across the back and sides; these are bordered with black and yellow strokes. A series of whitish spots with black borders also occur across the flanks. The eyes are a bright yellow while a thin black stripe runs from the snout through the center of the head to the base of the neck. Large specimens are highly dangerous; it occurs all over Southeast Asia.
