Pythons
Southeast Asia |
Pythons are powerful constrictors of the snake kingdom, with several members that constitute the largest species in the world. Pythons typically lay eggs and hunt by ambush tactics, coiling around prey to suffocate them. In Southeast Asia, the reticulated python is the longest species of snake in the world, and also the second largest after the Anaconda from South America. The blood python is another species found here, which is smaller and semi-aquatic in nature. It comprises several subspecies found across the region, with Python brongersmai described here occuring only in Southern Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore.
