Peter's Bush Frog

Philautus petersi

This small bush frog is found in Peninsular Malaysia and Borneo in Southeast Asia. It occupies trees and stems in hilly to highland rainforest, perching on leaves on low-hanging shrubs, and sometimes in tree holes. The base colour is creamish brown with a broad dark greenish stripe on the dorsum, that comes in the shape of an hourglass towards the center. The belly is whitish in the middle with faint dark mottled markings while the limbs have dark bands. During the night, it adopts a pale yellowish brown complexion, without the hourglass pattern seen during the day. It is nocturnal and feeds on insects in the wild.
