Paddy Field Frog

Fejervarya limnocharis

The paddy field frog is a small and common amphibian which occurs in lowland and secondary forest while also being common in agricultural areas such as paddy fields. This frog has a stout body and triangular snout along with long hind legs. The colour is a drab brown with mottled patterns across the top, legs and face. Sometimes, a light coloured vertebral stripe may occur in individuals. This highly common frog can be found all the way from India and Sri Lanka, to Thailand, Borneo, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia in Southeast Asia. This species is also bred in the aquatic pet trade as feeder food for fishes and bait for fishing.
