Ocellated Brown Snake
The Ocellated Brown Snake is a rare species known from hilly rainforest regions, most likely near streams. This spectacular rat snake has a simple reticulated pattern along the body, interwoven with broad dark-edged greenish brown ocelli markings across the posterior region. The head and neck is reddish brown above and bright yellow below, with dark borders along each scale. The venter is creamish, with a slight reddish tinge at the anterior region. Little is known about its ecology, but it is presumed to feed on fish, frogs and rodents. In Southeast Asia, the Ocellated Brown Snake occurs in Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo and Sumatra.
