Amphibians ~ True Frogs ~ Malaysian Frog

This medium-sized frog is a terrestial species that is fond of muddy or swampy areas in lowland to highland rainforest, but also in agricultural areas. Nocturnal, the Malaysian frog will also congregrate around stagnant pools or very slow-moving streams, where it makes a unique 'whooo' sound that some have described as being similar to a cat's meow.

The dorsum is a brilliant mahogany with well-defined dorsolateral stripes running from the snouth, through the eyes, and all the way down to the back, seperating the back from the greyish sides. The limbs are whitish grey with irregular dark banding. Females are more robust and larger than males. This frog is endemic to Malaysia, both in the Peninsular and Borneo (Sarawak), in Southeast Asia.
