Snakes ~ Keelbacks ~ Malayan Mountain Keelback
The Malayan mountain keelback is a highland keelback species that can occasionally be found in mid-level rainforest habitat. The base colour is dark brown to greyish black, with a row of dorsal spots on each flank. The white ventrolateral stripes are uneven and connect poorly with another broken white labial stripe.
The irises are brown and there are faint dark bands across the body. This uncommon keelback species hunts frogs, lizards and fish in the wild. In Southeast Asia, it occurs only in Southern Thailand and Peninsular Malaysia. Otherwise, the ecology of this species is poorly-known. |
