 Malayan Mossy Frog Theloderma leprosum |
The Malayan mossy frog is the largest mossy frog species in Malaysia, growing easily past the three inch mark. It occupies the tree canopy in mid to upper-level rainforest , but sometimes, can be found on rocks along streams. This large mossy frog is beautiful, with brown colouration and gold-fringed tubercles across the back. The feet are webbed and the disks on each toe is tinged with reddish orange.
The eyes are reddish brown in juveniles, but become greyish brown in adults. The ventrals are bluish white with a network of large black blotches. This mossy frog most resembles Theloderma gordoni from Vietnam, but is a distinct species. In Southeast Asia, this mossy frog species is restricted to Peninsular Malaysia and Sumatra in Indonesia. |
