Malayan Horned Frog

Megophrys nasuta

The Malayan horned frog has a sharp flap above each eye, while the nostril ends in a pointed tip, giving the appearance of leaves as it lies crouched on the forest floor, looking to ambush prey. The limbs have faint dark crossbars while there are two pairs of narrow dorsolateral folds. The body colour ranges from greyish yellow to light brown shades, sometimes with light spots on the back or a mottled pattern. A patch of small black bumps portrude randomly from the center of the back. In Southeast Asia, this species occurs widely in Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra and Borneo, occuppying lowland to upper-level rainforest often near streams. The call is a loud, sharp honk.
