Malayan Giant Frog

Limnonectes malesianus

The Malayan giant frog is similar to Limnonectes blythii, but ican be differentiated by its smaller size; a dark patch on the rear half of the tympanum that gradually tapers off into the base of the neck; and a 'W' shaped skin fold on the back, which may be weak but always present. The Malayan giant frog occupies a similar habitat along streams in lowland to mid-level rainforest. The colour ranges from reddish to yellowish brown. A thin and light-coloured vertebral stripe may occur in some individuals. This frog is also considered good eating among locals and aborigines due to its size. In Southeast Asia, this species can be found in Malaysia, Singapore, Borneo and Indonesia.
