The Malayan brown snake is a common but secretive snake found in lowland rainforest areas along streams, swamps and mangroves. The adult snake is greyish brown with dark banding at the anterior region, becoming more faint as the body tapers towards an olive complexion at mid-body. Juveniles are completely brown, acquiring the olive colouration only at adulthood. The ventrals are creamish white and heavily keeled. The Malayan brown snake is semi-aquatic in nature, feeding on frogs and fish in the wild. In Southeast Asia, this species can be found in Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore, Borneo and Indonesia.
