Indochinese Rat Snake
The Indochinese rat snake thrives in disturbed habitats such as plantations and estates that fringe old secondary or primary rainforest areas. This hardy snake occurs widely throughout Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and even all the way up north to Taiwan. The base colour is yellowish brown, with the scales from mid-body onwards becoming more defined by dark edges. The ventrals are creamish yellow, with a slightly blue hue along the ventrolateral region. It feeds on rodents, frogs and lizards in the wild. Terrestial and diurnal, the Indochinese rat snake can be found curled around tree branches at night, up to a few meters off the ground.
