The Indo-Chinese rat snake is a common denizen of agricultural areas and rainforest of all levels. This hardy snake has an aggressive temperament and feeds on frogs, lizards and rodents in the wild. It has a greyish brown body with dark-edged scales while the ventrals are yellowish white.
There is a slight blue hue on the ventrolateral region of the body. The eyes are remarkably large, as typical of the Ptyas genus. It occurs widely across Southeast Asia from Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand all the way up to Taiwan.
