Hill Forest Frog

Limnonectes hascheanus

The hill forest frog is a small and secretive species that hides away under leaf litter in lowland and hilly rainforest. It is drab brown in colour, with a highly angulr face and a sharp ridge along both sides of the back. The top of the snout is light-coloured while the legs have dark bands. In Southeast Asia, this species occurs in Malaysia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. Its call is a distinct crow-like sound which it makes during the day and night.
