The green cat snake is a lowland species from Southeast Asia that is found in Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar and the extreme north of Peninsular Malaysia forming its furthest southern record. Although a beautiful species, the green cat snake is considered common in Thailand, but rare in Malaysia. The entire body ranges from bluish to dark green while the ventrals are yellow. The irises are white while the tongue and inner linings of the jaw are bluish white.

Neonates are bright red except for a green head. This colour eventually fades to brown then green as they mature into adulthood. This species lays anywhere between 5 - 12 eggs per clutch. The green cat snake preys on lizards, frogs, birds and rodents in the wild but will not hesitate to feed on other snakes, including members of their own kind. Green cat snakes are generally very aggressive and emit an extremely foul musk when threatened.
