The green cat snake occurs only at the extreme north of Peninsular Malaysia, including Langkawi island, but its Southeast Asia range extends north to Thailand, Cambodia and Myanmar. The body may be lime or bluish green while the ventrals are yellow. The tongue and inner linings of the jaw are bluish white. Neonates are born red with a green head, fading to brown before achieving their adult colours. This species lays anywhere between 5-12 eggs, which takes about three months to hatch on average. The green cat snake preys on lizards, snakes, frogs, birds and rodents in the wild. An aggressive species, it emits a foul but distinct musk when handled.
