Frilled Tree Frog

Rhacophorus appendiculatus

This tiny frog species employs an excellent camouflage to mimic the surroundings of its low-level plant and tree habitat. The mottled green skin is covered with rough edges and indentations to give the appearance of frills, enabling it to blend in with the surface of a moss-ridden tree bark or branch. It occurs in shades of green to creamish brown; the irises are a bright yellow. In Southeast Asia, this frog occurs in Malaysia, Borneo and Indonesia (Sumatra).
