Dwarf Toad

Bufo parvus

The dwarf toad, also known as the Malayan forest toad, is a tiny but common species that rarely exceeds 5 cm in length. This toad can be found in lowland or secondary rainforest areas, sometimes coming out on remote roads or agricultural areas. The colour is variable, and ranges from dark brown to grey and yellow to orange. The body is covered with numerous warts while there are two ridges above the head and between the eyes that is characteristic of this species. When handled, the dwarf toad produces a series of raspy notes. In Southeast Asia, this species occurs in Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Thailand and Myanmar.
