The cricket frog is a small terrestial frog with a sharply projected snout and slender body. A dorsolateral ridge occurs from the back of the eye till the groin region. The dorsum is brown or greensihs and usually covered with dark spots while the limbs may have irregular barring. The flanks are greenish. A dark stripe extends from the snout, through the eye and ends after the tympanum.


This common frog thrives in a variety of habitats, including plantations, drains, parks, disturbed secondary forest and lowland to upper-level rainforest. This frog has been reported to be both diurnal and nocturnal. In Southeast Asia, this species occurs in Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo, Indonesia and the Philippines.
