Corrugated Frog

Limnonectes laticeps

The corrugated frog is a common species in lowland to highland rainforest, where it occurs along streams, lakes and pools. It is an adept swimmer, often found floating on calm water at rocky sections of streams. It has a stout body and a large head, along with a dark ridge that starts from behind the eye and wraps around the tympanum area to the base of the neck. The colour is variable, ranging from dark greyish to orange brown shades. The skin across the back and limbs is folded into little ridges, while the underside of the hind legs is orange. In Southeast Asia, this species occurs in Thailand, Malaysia, Burma and Borneo.
