Copper Cheeked Frog

Rana chalconata

The copper cheeked frog is a common species in secondary jungles and lowland to highland rainforest. This species can easily be identified by its distinct dark brown tympanum. The colour is highly variable; some individuals may be completely green, or green on dorsum and brown on flanks or totally brownish. The lips and belly are white. Small spots may be visible on the back. A nocturnal species, it can be found perched on vegetation and rocks along streams. In Southeast Asia, this species occurs in Malaysia, Borneo, Indonesia and Singapore.
