Amphibians ~ True Frogs ~ Common Green Frog

Also called the green paddy frog or common greenback, this medium-sized species is abundant in agricultural or disturbed areas near primary or old secondary rainforest. It can easily be identified by the white stripes that extend from each eye towards the end of the body on each side. The back and sides are green, sometimes with a tinge of brown while the belly is whitish.

The common green frog is widely distributed across Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, Borneo, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines. They like to congregate around and inside pools of water that have clumps of grass or weeds, the males calling very loudly at night.
