This uncommon bronzeback is found in Peninsular Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. A thick and broad black stripe occurs from the snout, through the eye and ends at the base of the nape. The tongue is bright red while the top of its head is bronze. The jaws and neck are yellowish and the ventrals greyish brown. A series of thin black bands occur through the body, but they do not encircle completely, ending where the ventrolaterals begin. When frightened, the Cohn's bronzeback will flare its neck and body to reveal bright blue markings along the lateral region from the neck onwards. This attractive snake presumably feeds on lizards and frogs in the wild.
