Cameron Highlands Pit Viper

Trimeresurus nebularis

This species occurs in upper-level to montane rainforests of Cameron Highlands. Females grow larger than males, but there is no clear sexual dimorphism. A faint orange ventrolateral stripe occurs in juvenile males. The body is green in colouration with a rich blue tinge, especially noticeable along the ventrals and labial area. The eyes are usually greenish or yellow, but sometimes red-eyed specimens occur. A white ventrolateral line may occur in some individuals. The tail is brick red with a regular and defined edge above the ventral, which differs from the similar Trimeresurus fucatus. This nocturnal viper feeds on small mammals in the wild.
