The Caecillian occurs in lowland rainforests across Peninsular Malaysia, Indonesia, Borneo and the Philippines. A chubby species, it has a drab yellowish to greyish brown colouration, with fatty skin folds along the sides and numerous warts and tubercles across the dorsum and limbs. Patches of dark blotches can be seen on the back, with ligher mottling along the sides. A yellowish orange patch occurs at the groin and arm pit region, while the belly is pale, with ligth mottling. A fossorial species, the Caecillian is still a good climber and can be seen on tree trunks and low-lying shrubs, emerging from their burrows after heavy rainfall.
