The brown kukri snake is a common species that ranges from Peninsular Malaysia to Singapore and Indonesia to Borneo in Southeast Asia. This stout kukri snake inhabits lowland to highland rainforests. It has a brown body with dark saddle-like bands; a chevron-like marking occurs around the head and through the eyes, extending into a triangle shape band on the neck. The ventrals is pinkish in juveniles and yellowish or whitish with black bands, sometimes absent, in adults. This species also occurs in a striking red or purple phase. Other than eggs and lizards, it has been reported to feed on frogs and their spawn.
