Snakes ~ Bronzebacks ~ Blue Bronzeback

The blue bronzeback snake is often confused with Dendrelaphis formosus, but can be told apart by the longer snout, brown irises and smooth complexion, in contrast with the highly-keeled dosum of formosus. Also, the black stripe that extends through the eye till the neck starts from the loreal scale, rather than from the snout in the elegant bronzeback.

In comparison with Dendrelaphis formosus, the blue bronzeback has a more robust body with less intensity, though the overall scheme of colours is very much similiar to the elegant bronzeback. Diurnal and arboreal, the blue bronzeback feeds on lizards and frogs in the wild. It is aggressive and will not hesitate to bite when threatened. This snake is distributed from India all the way down to Southeast Asia including Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.
