The black striped frog occurs at stagnant pools or rock cavities formed by the sides of streams in primary lowland rainforest. This frog has a brown dorsum with a broad black stripe along each flank from the snout, through the eye and all the way to the base of its back. The belly is pale while the limbs are brownish, the hind legs with weak barring. The tympanum is reddish brown while there lower flank area may have dark spots. In Southeast Asia, this species can be found in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.
