Black Headed Cat Snake
The black headed cat snake, sometimes called the red cat snake, occurs mostly in lowland to hilly rainforest. The colouration is highly variable, including brown, orange, red, green and dark grey, but the head is always dark, leaning towards greenish brown or grey). It feeds on birds, lizards, frogs, rodents and other snakes. Neonates are brown without any dark colouration on the head. They also possess twin spots along the dorsal region which fade as they mature into adulthood. Their irises become more grey with age. This beautiful snake occurs widely in Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia and Borneo.
