The black-eyed litter frog is a small species that occupies lowland and hilly rainforest, but also thrives in secondary forests near disturbed areas and swamps. The irises are completely dark, while the body is yellowish to greyish brown. A series of broken stripes may occur along the dorsum, while the belly is pale with light vermiculation, becoming more pronounced as it nears the inguinal region. This species is nocturnal and often encountered at night on the forest floor. In Southeast Asia, the black-eyed litter frog occurs in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.
