Banded Kukri Snake

Oligodon fasciolatus

The banded kukri snake occurs throughout Thailand to the north of Peninsular Malaysia in Southeast Asia. This large kukri species can occur in either grey, red or brown forms. A series of thin saddle-like bands runs the length of the dorsum which are spaced quite far apart. The ventrals are reddish in juveniles but white in adults. The banded kukri is an opportunistic feeder, taking eggs, skinks, frogs, other lizards and small mammals in the wild. It occurs in lowland rainforest and islands in the extreme north of Peninsular Malaysia. Females can lay anything between 3-16 eggs which hatch into greyish brown juveniles.
