The banded krait occurs at all elevations of rainforests, but it is most common at lowland and coastal areas. This species has a white or yellow body along with broad black bands that encircle the ventrals. It can be differentiated from the blue krait by the chevron-like marking on the neck and back of head. The tail is very blunt and short while the vertebral ridge is well-defined. The banded krait feeds primarily on snakes and skinks in the wild. It occurs over much of Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, Borneo, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and the northern region.
