Captive breeding of reptiles such as snakes have become a strong focus over the years among reptile-keepers with good reason. As deforestation and development displace much of Malaysia's wildlife, all efforts to conserve and cultivate depleting wildlife stocks have never been so crucial as now. In addition, captive breeding negates much of the need of WC specimens, although some are still required in the first place to get a viable breeeding group going, as well as the occassional addition to diversify the gene pool of an established colony.
